What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing, re-discovered in the early 1900's by scholar Mikao Usui. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words ‘Rei’ meaning universal and ‘Ki’ which means life energy.

How does it work?

It works with energy fields around the body and uses the transfer of energy from the universe through a Healers hands and body. Energy can stagnate in your body where there may have been physical or mental trauma (either extreme and sudden, or a build up over a long period). These energy blocks can cause physical or mental illness. Mental illness can show itself in many ways, from anxiety and depression, to an inability to think clearly or having little or no self-esteem.

Improving the flow of energy around your body enables relaxation, relieves pain, speeds healing and can reduce

other symptoms.

Although the healing power of reiki is transmitted through hands, there’s no need for hands on. The healer can simply hover their hands a few inches above a patient’s body and

the energy passes through a healer to the patient.

What are the benefits?

Reiki is an all-encompassing treatment, stimulating your body’s healing abilities to deal with physical ailments and mental or emotional issues. Don’t be surprised if you suddenly gain clarity and decide to take your life in another direction.

Remember it's not a substitute for medical intervention though, so if you’re thinking of stopping any medication, be sure to chat to your doctor.

A little bit of Science

I ensure that I keep my training up to date and attend more Reiki courses every year. I have recently been training with Torsten A Lange who is a Reiki Master who is keen to show some proof of how reiki works.

He has worked with a Swiss laboratory who test water samples and he literally performed Reiki on bottles of water and then tested them against bottles of water that had not received Reiki.

Not only was it proved without doubt that the Reiki had made

a profound difference to the water quality, bit this also showed true on the water that had been treated at a distance

(Torsten in London and the bottle of water at the Laboratory

in Switzerland).
