A Reiki Session

What to expect?
A complete Reiki session is offered to someone who is lying on a treatment table, or sitting comfortably in a chair.
There’s no need to touch the patient as Reiki works with hands held just above the body which are moved over a series of locations that are in line with energy Chakra’s. Extra placements on the limbs may also be done if there is an injury or pain. Reiki is subjective, changeable, and sometimes very subtle. People often experience heat from a practitioner's hands, though sometimes the hands feel refreshingly cool.
You can also feel subtle pulsations where the practitioner's hands are placed, or even waves of pulsations throughout the body.
What does it feel like?
A study found that patients often feel they are hovering in a threshold state of consciousness, aware of both their
surroundings and being deeply indrawn. Some people fall into a deep sleep like meditative state. Sometimes the
experience of Reiki is dramatic, while for others, a first session in particular may be uneventful, although they usually feel better afterwards. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of
deep relaxation.
"I feel very refreshed and am able to think more clearly."
"I think I fell asleep."
"I can't believe how hot your hands got!"
"I feel more relaxed than even after a massage."
"My headache has gone."
These are some of the things people said or felt after a Reiki session.

Reiki is cumulative, so even people who don't notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue. Besides the immediate experience of Reiki, you may notice other changes as your day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centred and poised and less reactive, followed by a deep sleep that night.

As the session progresses, you will feel more relaxed. If you become uncomfortable, you can adjust your position. Be sure to ask for anything that aids comfort, such as additional support under your knees or a blanket.
This is your special time and your practitioner is there to help you.
Receiving Reiki is a wonderfully passive experience. Don't try to relax, just let Reiki relax you. Your state will shift quite naturally as the session gets underway. Feel free to daydream, enjoy music, or simply observe your breath or the sensations of therapy.

What happens after the session?
Do not expect a diagnosis, that’s not part of Reiki. Some practitioners may make common sense suggestions for after-care, such as drinking water.

Although people typically leave a Reiki session feeling refreshed, sometimes they notice feeling tired in the evening. This isn’t viewed as an adverse reaction, but rather the body's natural healing response, something to be heeded. People commonly feel a sense of calm, mental clarity or sleeping well after Reiki.
A distance Reiki session is the same as a normal Reiki session, but with no need for you to be present.
I will simply arrange a time to call you (usually via WhatsApp or Zoom so that we can see each other)
so that we can have a chat before hand.
We will then arrange for a time for you to go and laydown somewhere comfortable and I will connect to
you and give Reiki.
Once the session is complete, I will call you back so that we can discuss further.
This one is hard for some people to get their heads around, however, whether you have Reiki
face to face or at a distance simply makes no difference. This form of healing became extremely
popular during Covid and we experienced amazing results.

How many sessions should I receive?
Your practitioner may suggest a series of sessions. Four sessions is typically recommended and gives you
time to evaluate the benefits Reiki brings. Discuss with your practitioner how best to space your sessions out
so they suit you and your lifestyle.
If you’ve got a serious health challenge, Reiki practitioners often recommend four sessions over four days
which needn’t be with the same practitioner.
